UK’s most popular hair and beauty trends of 2022 revealed

With the hashtag ‘#beautytrends2022' on TikTok receiving over two million views, salon booking app Booksy recently asked its hair and beauty providers to reveal the top trends their customers have been loving in 2022.

Eastbourne-based nail artist and Booksy ambassador, Alice McNails revealed gel polish, builder gel, and gel extensions were the most popular treatments in her salon this year.  

Alice, who is known for her exceptional nail art skills, said the top design trends of 2022 have been mix and match (a different design on each nail), celestial/galaxy and space themes, and coloured, check, glitter, or marble French tips.

Whilst Glam-ma City manager Cass reported popular beauty treatments in her south west London beauty salon were lip fillers, eyelash extensions, and hair extensions. 

Meanwhile, Jimmy, Manager of trendy Hackney hair salon WhiP said its most popular treatment was the restorative hair treatment Olaplex, due to many clients having coloured hair.  

Jimmy added that balayage (handpainted highlights) was also very popular as well as all over traditional highlights.

As for hairstyles, Jimmy says it's been all about shorter hair regardless of gender. Popular styles included shag haircuts, mullets, shullets, and the preppy shorter at the back with longer floppy bangs paying homage to Hugh Grant's Four Weddings and a Funeral hair-do.
