Spa sets sights on Indian market

The Lake District's Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa is making efforts to target the Indian travel market, having participated in Visit Britain and Cumbria Tourism's ‘English Lake District Indian Forum'.

The Keswick location's general manager, Simon Steele, was among 42 representatives from 13 Lake District businesses to travel to India to take part in the Overseas Trade Mission in January.

With India one of the world's fastest growing economies, the visit was organised to further raise awareness of the Lake District, which is becoming increasingly popular with Indian travellers. Attendees took part in a series of face to face meetings, workshops and networking events with more than 250 Indian travel agents and tour operators.

Speaking of the experience, Simon comments, “This was an extremely worthwhile trip which allowed me to introduce Armathwaite Hall to a large number of the Indian luxury travel market. Their professionalism and knowledge was incredible and I am very much looking forward to doing business with them. With fantastic flight connections now from major Indian cities to the North of the UK, this has opened up a huge opportunity for us."
