Shortlist announced for the FreeFrom Skincare Awards 2020

Over 200 products from 120 brands have made the shortlist of the ninth annual FreeFrom Skincare Awards – dedicated to celebrating cosmetics ‘free from' many of the ingredients which some consumers need to or want to avoid.

Leading the way with six shortlisted products each are Tropic, who were overall champions back in 2014 for their Smoothing Cleanser, and first-time participant, Codex Beauty.

This year's shortlist follows a long period of assessment of entries by a 100-strong team of testers, each with sensitive or problem skin, or with a passion for natural or ‘free from' skincare.

“This has been the year defined by testing under lockdown,” says Awards director, Alex Gazzola. “The soap bars in particular were put through their paces. It was especially challenging for our testers, some of whom were NHS workers, to adapt and manage their skincare routines, especially those with caring and home-schooling responsibilities.”

He adds: “The pampering products, such as face masks, bath jellies and even a night cream for feet, were particularly valued, both for their skin benefits, and for their therapeutic ones.”

This year's Awards are sponsored by Lyonsleaf, previous winners of twenty medals, including five gold.

Gold, silver and bronze winners in all 15 categories – plus additional awards for Best Free From Skincare Brand, Best Free From Achievement and Best Overall Free From Skincare Product – will be announced online at the end of July or early August.
