Berkshire spa launches bamboo massage

Berkshire's award-winning Donnington Valley Hotel & Spa has launched a new bamboo massage, bringing benefits to both clients and therapists.

The use of different sized bamboo sticks within the massage to knead and roll is designed both to reduce stress and strain on therapists' fingers, as well as relieving stubborn muscle pain and tension in clients.

Launched in August, the 55-minute therapy incorporates uplifting cica, rosemary and niaouli essential oils; offering physical, mental and emotional benefits. The kneading process works to remove lactic acid to reduce muscular pain as well as stretching and elongating muscles, giving the body more vitality, flexibility and endurance. The massage technique also promotes blood circulation, lymphatic drainage and sensory nerve perception whilst providing a sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

When applied to the body regularly, it is said that the high percentage of silica in bamboo sticks encourages absorption of essential minerals such as potassium, calcium and magnesium; leading to improved health of the skin, ligaments, tendons and bones, as well as natural skin healing through cell regeneration.
