HISTORY OF GUILD PRESS

1997
The first issue of Guild News magazine was published in 1997. The magazine would go on to become the UK's leading print trade title for the beauty, nails, tanning and spa sectors. 

Today Guild News has a total average net circulation of 18,051* copies per month.

Jan 1998
First issue of the Beauty Index annual directory was published in 1998, the UK's most comprehensive directory of beauty suppliers, trainers and educators. 

Today, the Beauty Index Online also delivers a comprehensive online database of beauty suppliers and educators. 
February 2003
Tanning World magazine, the bi-monthly titled aimed at indoor tanning operators, launched in February 2003.
May 2003
The first Scottish Beauty show launched at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh in May 2003. The event continues to be Scotland's only professional beauty exhibition and has grown to become a two-day exhibition. 

May 2004
A year after the launch of Scottish Beauty, the Scottish Nail Tech competition launched as the only professional nail competition in Scotland. 
September 2005
Dedicated to complementary therapists and holistic therapy students, the Holistic Health show launched at Donington Park Exhibition Centre in September 2005. The show moved to run alongside sister exhibition BeautyUK at the NEC Birmingham in 2010.

April 2006
The Beauty Show launched at Donington Park Exhibition Centre in April 2006.This would later evolve into Beauty UK and see a move to the NEC Birmingham.
2007

Sister company Associated Beauty Therapists (ABT) launched in 2007, providing total insurance solutions for beauty therapists, salons and students.

ABT membership became the only membership organisation to offer members a monthly copy of Guild News magazine.

Spring 2007
In Spring 2007, Beauty UK launched at the NEC Birmingham. This trade show covering beauty, nails, tanning and spa therapies has become the sector's largest trade exhibition outside of London. 

Beauty UK 2016 saw an attendance of over 27,000 industry professionals.

April 2007
The UK Nail Tech competition was introduced at Beauty UK 2007. The event showcases the talents of nail technicians and students from across the UK and beyond, and has become a key date in nail techs' competition calendar. 
September 2007
The Nail File - the UK's first tabloid newspaper covering nails – launched in September 2007. 
January 2009

In 2009, Guild Press' editorial and creative teams took over production of Irish Beauty magazine, published by Guild Press' Irish sister company, Associated Irish Therapists Ltd. Founded in 2004, Irish Beauty is distributed 10 times a year to Ireland's professional beauty and spa sectors. 

May 2011
Beauty UK celebrated its fifth anniversary at the NEC Birmingham in May 2011.
May 2012
Hair UK launched at the NEC Birmingham in May 2012. The event is the UK's only free entry trade exhibition for hair professionals and showcases new product launches along with live demos and masterclasses. 
January 2014

Six years after its introduction, Nail File relaunched in a glossy, handbag-sized format in January 2014, with a circulation of 10,600 copies distributed to UK nails and UK nail artists.


July 2014

Irish Beauty magazine celebrated its 10th anniversary and 100th issue in July 2014.

May 2016

Beauty UK attracts record attendance figures, with 27,195 beauty, hair, barber, spa and complementary therapy professionals attending the two-day showcase along with Hair UK, Barber UK and Holistic Health at the NEC Birmingham.

2017

Guild News celebrates its 20th anniversary. The magazine gets a makeover whilst BeautyServe is also relaunched.
