Salons commended for their community support
Winners of the NHF/NBF's first ever Hair & Beauty Community Awards have been announced.
Run by the National Hairdressers Federation and the National Beauty Federation (NHF/NBF), the reception was held at the Houses of Parliament this April. Launched earlier this year, the awards aim to recognise and promote the commendable work that hair salons, barber shops and beauty salons do to support their local communities.
John Belfield International won the Community Impact Award in recognition of the salon's dedication to assisting mothers and children who are victims of domestic violence by providing clothing, Christmas dinners and days out.
This year's Fundraising Award went to The Head Gardener. To date, the salon has raised £200,000 from such activities as bag packing, hair-a-thons, cycling, running and organising a fundraising event, all in aid of the Highland Hospice.
On the day, Kelly Tolhurst, Minister for Small Business; Paul Uppal, the Small Business Commissioner; Mark Pawsey MP and many other MPs attended the event, as well as hair and beauty business owners from across the country who were invited as a result of entering the awards.
