New spa treatments developed for cancer patients

Macdonald Hotels & Resorts have launched a new range of spa treatments designed for clients living with and recovering from cancer.

The independently-owned hotel group has teamed up with specialist skin care company, Jennifer Young – Beauty Despite Cancer, to offer services and specialist products for cancer patients, as well as providing training in the form of techniques, appropriate language and consultation advice for the hotel's beauty therapists and front of house staff.

Two ranges will be available across the Macdonald Spa Collection, all of which contain a blend of ingredients and essential oils that are gentle on sensitive skin and possess anti-ageing benefits. These comprise the Defiant Beauty range, which is specially formulated for those living with cancer and addresses the side effects treatments can have on the skin, body and nails, and the Beyond Beauty Range, designed for use after chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

“We are very proud to be the first hotel group in the UK to be able to offer Jennifer Young spa treatments for those affected by cancer,” says Emma Leadbeater, spa director. “We know how beneficial a massage or facial can be and we didn't want anyone who is affected by cancer to be denied that feeling of deep relaxation and self-care that a visit to a spa can provide.”
