Malaysian spa goes back to its roots
A Malaysian hotel resort has launched a spa menu inspired by indigenous traditions and ceremonies.
Spa therapists at The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi, have been educated in the healing rituals and beauty ceremonies that have been practiced by local shamans and midwives for thousands of years.
Treatments use an abundance of natural materials from the island, including rich marine mud from the Andaman Sea and heated volcanic rocks, which allow guests to directly feel the potent energy of the surrounding nature.
Highlights from the menu include the Mystical Ocean and Earth Ritual, a relaxing hot stone massage and marine mud wrap experience, and the Mandi Bunga Inspired Ritual, harnessing the benefits of traditional herbs to dispel bad energy and encourage relaxation.
