Healing Hands Network to participate in The Big Give Christmas Challenge
The charity is taking part in an exciting match-funding opportunity to raise funds for its Sarajevo project.
This year, the Healing Hands Network has announced it is participating in The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2018.
Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist, Sir Alec Reed CBE, The Christmas Challenge is the UK's biggest online match funding campaign. For seven days, it offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donation doubled on theBigGive.org.uk. Since 2008, The Big Give has helped total over £98 million for thousands of charities through match funding.
For 2018, the Healing Hands Network is taking part in the initiative to raise vital funds for their training work in Sarajevo. The UK-based self-funding charity, whose patron is Guild Press' managing director, Gary Hackett, is made up of volunteer complementary and holistic therapists, who offer support to those who are suffering from the mental, physical and emotional after-effects of war and who may be suffering from PTSD.
“Donations raised will ensure sustainability of our Bosnia project, ‘Sarajevo: Empowering Victims of War', passing on our complementary therapy skills to our clients,” explains Sue Stretton, director of Healing Hands Network. “It will provide training in Reiki and Massage, with techniques for self-help, and can be used on family and friends. This will also encourage strong social networks with monthly Reiki shares, reducing isolation in harsh winters. Quite simply – one donation has double the impact.”
The Big Give Christmas Challenge will run from 12pm on 27th November to 4th December 2018. Supporters are encouraged to make their donations online, all of which will be doubled whilst match funds last.
