British consumers are estimated to spend a colossal £4.75 billion on products over the course of Black Friday weekend, according to a recent survey by online marketplace, OnBuy.com.
Sales are predicted to be 1500% higher on Black Friday compared to any other Friday in the year, with shoppers spending an estimated £2.23 billion online and £2.52 in-store. Plus, shoppers are predicted to shell out around £300 on Black Friday deals, making an anticipated average saving of £489 on discounted products.
The survey also sought to discover the product categories set to experience the greatest demand over the weekend, with 78% of consumers interested in spending on electronics, 53% on cosmetics and fragrances and 49% on gift cards/vouchers.
“Black Friday has become a massive opportunity for UK retailers to drive sales and revenue in the important run-up to Christmas,” says Cas Paton, managing director of OnBuy.com. “This year is certainly going to be no different, and this research provides a comprehensive insight into how Brits intend to splash their cash on the big day itself.”
