New data has revealed that the UK beauty industry experienced a scorching summer, with consumers spending over £100 million during the season.
The analysis, conducted by Worldpay, revealed that barber and beauty salons saw a 6% increase in summer sales volumes compared with last year.
Key summer highlights, including the recent series of Love Island and the Royal Wedding in May, have contributed to keeping British beauty businesses booming. The findings showed that during the first two weeks of this year's Love Island, beauty footfall increased by an average of 7.3% compared to last year, and the Royal Wedding bumped up beauty transactions by 7%.
The report also served to highlight the UK's biggest spenders. Residents of Uttlesford, Essex claimed the top spot, spending 27% more on beauty over the summer period than in 2017. Northern beauties were pipped at the post this year, with Carlisle and York coming in second and third. Representing the capital, Southwark is home to London's most prolific beauty lovers, up 16% compared to last year, whilst Dundee flies the flag for Scotland, up 15%.
